Why does KFC have a fish taco?

Before you accuse me of not knowing whereof I speak, I distinctly remember seeing a sign for KFC's 99-cent Fish Tacos while driving a few days ago. Even though they're not on KFC's menu, I did find a reference or two on Teh Internets (so it must be true!), so I'm fairly sure I didn't dream it.

Wait...they were called Baja Fish Tacos. LJS has an item by that name on their menu.

Did KFC and LJS merge? Can I now get popcorn shrimp and a tub of KFC's crack mashed potatoes and gravy? If so, what will they call the new entity formed by their merger? Kentucky Fried Long Johns? Kentucky John's Silver Chicken? Long Chicken? Colonel Silver's? Can I get a bucket of extra-crispy fish fillets made with 11 secret herbs and spices?

I know that up here, KFC and Taco Bell often share restaurant space (Kentucky Fried Bell, anyone?) Perhaps that's where it came from, or KFC and LJS have a similar arrangement?

How thoughtful of them to combine two places I'd never eat at in one building...
KFC and TB call this 'synergy'; I call it 'containment'. :)

There's a combo KFC/LJS near my workplace, in fact, and you CAN get popcorn shrimp and mashed potatoes & gravy together!

here in Austin, I've seen a couple of KFC/LJS/A&W all-in-one place. We never had A&W all by itself.

the sign is kind of like a waving flag with all 3 logos on it

But I like "Kentucky Fried Long Johns" a lot :)

We have a Kentucky Fried Pizza Bell here. As Pru notes, they're all part of Yum! Brands, mostly spun off from Pepsi a few years ago.

Restaurant Groups
These are all members of Yum! Brands.

They are a client of ours. They are actually scary big.

Re: Restaurant Groups
They used to be owned by Pepsi. Pepsi figured they could own some fast food operators and guarantee which beverage vendor they chose. Then other restaurant operators figured it was a bad idea to subsidize the competition by selling the wrong brand of sugar water. So Pepsi spun the brands off.

You are dangerous!
I got so tickled at Kentucky Fried Long Johns that I almost strangled myself!

There is a KFC/LJS where my MiL lives.
